New Feature: Derivation Tree
We have added the Derivation Tree to IMVU Bot. You can now trace any IMVU product back through its full derivation chain — from the original base mesh all the way down to every product that was derived from it.
How It Works
Every IMVU product is derived from another product. The Derivation Tree visualizes this entire chain, like a family tree for IMVU products. Enter any product ID to see:
| Section | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Ancestors | The full chain of parent products traced upward to the original base mesh |
| Current Product | Your searched product, highlighted in the tree with full details |
| Derivatives | All products that were derived from the current product |
Click any product in the tree to search its own derivation chain. Click a creator name to open their catalog in Creator Catalog.
Product Info Card
At the top of every result, a product info card shows the full details of the searched product: name, image, creator, price in credits, GA/AP rating, category path, and whether the product is derivable. From here you can view the product on IMVU or copy a shareable link to the derivation tree.
Derivative Insights
When a product has derivatives, IMVU Bot calculates statistics from our database to give you a quick overview:
| Stat | Description |
|---|---|
| Avg / Max Price | Average and highest price among all derivatives |
| Paid / Free | How many derivatives are paid versus free |
| Unique Creators | Number of different creators who derived from this product |
| Derivable | How many derivatives allow further derivation |
| Top Creator | The creator with the most derivatives from this product |
The insights panel also shows how many derivatives have been analyzed from our database versus the total, so you know how complete the data is.
Filtering
For products with many derivatives, two filters help you find what you need:
| Filter | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Search | Filter derivatives by product name or creator name |
| Derivable | Show only products that allow further derivation — useful for creators looking for bases |
Large derivative lists load automatically as you scroll down, so you do not have to wait for everything to load at once.
Use Cases
The Derivation Tree is useful for creators and shoppers alike:
| Use Case | How |
|---|---|
| Find Originals | Trace any product back to its original base mesh or template |
| Discover Alternatives | Find other products derived from the same parent |
| Track Derivatives | See who has derived from your products and how many times |
| Find Derivables | Use the Derivable filter to find bases you can create from |
| Market Research | Analyze pricing and popularity of an entire product line with Insights |
Getting Started
The Derivation Tree is available to all IMVU Bot users — no subscription required. Head to Derivation Tree and enter any product ID to start exploring.
